Our journey to Recharge Specialists – from adversity to our life’s purpose over the past two decades; our work and businesses had us rushing from one country, engagement, meeting or job to another. It was a constant battle to have a balanced life with our friends and family, activities, business and self-care. Breakfast, lunch or dinners were often skipped, or eaten rushed and at odd times of the day. The long hours, traveling and deadlines eventually left me exhausted, lacking drive and running on empty.
Sean traveled frequently and many of his engagements with clients were over a meal and drinks. When you travel between different time-zones it’s a constant struggle with sleep deprivation, tiredness, lack of exercise or planning your meals and snacks. Bad habits crept into our lives. Our time-poor lifestyle affected all aspects of our life, especially diet and exercise. This left Sean with aches and pains in his legs, chronic reflux and GERD. The abuse of lack of sleep, poor diet and inactivity left me no “brain” reverse left and experienced a total immune system collapsed. I caught every flu and virus that would last eight (8) weeks, because that is the body’s first line of defence and these flus would return every couple of weeks, ear infections, sinusitis, bloating, irritability, depression, exhaustion, brain fog, allergies, skin rashes, headaches and bloating. I was sick, exhausted, and depressed. Most days, I just wanted to stay in bed. I wasn’t living my life it was survival. My treatment was going from doctor to doctor but only received a band-aid treatment of antibiotics and told to rest, as this disorder will take two years before I would completely recover. Sean always had scripts for his digestive problems and could not leave the house without a large packet of antacids. Our chaotic lives had us forgetting the most important people, US. This was the wake up call, either we do something about our lives or exist with constant illness, suffering and burn out. We both knew change had to happen. We researched and watched the documentary “Forks Over Knives” that was our AHA moment! We checked out our pantry and were shocked to realise the amount of additives, preservatives, chemicals, hidden fats and sugars, refined sugars and a bunch of numbers that meant nothing to us and needed decoding, all in all there was little nutritional value. We were eating “fake” food. Our body loved us when we add more alkaline into the body, eating fresh vegetables and fruits that tasted so delicious was the best decision we ever made, going completely Whole Foods Plant Foods. The change was evident within 2 weeks, we had more energy, skin cleared and vitality increased, enjoyed exercise, we felt restored, had a positive mindset and within a few months, Sean lost 40 kilos. We designed a program that had sustainable results. We become so passionate about the improvement in our lifestyle, we both returned to further studies in health, NLP, hypnotherapy, nutrition and Mind-Body Connection at the Institute of Integrated Nutrition (New York), Professional Whole Foods Plant Based Chefs (New York) and trained with Dr Pam Popper from Forks Over Knives as a certified Food Over Medicine instructor and Weight Management Instructor, Neuro Linguists Program Coach, NLP Practitioner, Time Line Therapy® and Hypnotherapy.

What is a Recharge Specialist?
As a Recharge Specialist we inform and support you to achieve health goals and behaviour adjustments. It’s a process that facilitates active, sustainable behaviour change by challenging you to develop your inner wisdom, identify your values, transform your goals into actions, wellness authority and gives you a supportive mentor who motivates positive health and mindset choices.
We empower you to develop strategies, break-through sessions and tasks to overcome those distractions and obstacles that are holding you back. Goals maybe to lose weight, reduce stress, increase energy, find their passion and purpose, sleep better, increase activity, develop happier relationships, avoid negativity, learn to breath and meditation or to lower the risk of chronic diseases.
Our population is ageing, although chronic diseases are affecting our children too. Today chronic diseases are the leading cause of illness, disability and death in Australia, accounting for 90% of all deaths in 2011 (AIHW 2011b). 80% of chronic illness could be avoided through diet and lifestyle changes.
Chronic diseases can range from mild conditions such as short- or long-sightedness, dental decay and minor hearing loss, to debilitating arthritis, stroke, obesity, hypertension, high cholesterol and low back pain and to life-threatening heart disease, diabetes type II, respiratory diseases like COPD, asthma and cancers. Four common behavioural risk factors—smoking, physical inactivity, poor nutrition and harmful use of alcohol.
Doctors don’t have the time we need to get us back on track. It’s not that they don’t want to help, but rather they only have about 10 – 15 minutes to spend with each patient. That means they may only be able to order some tests and prescribe a medication to relieve the symptoms. They also can usually only address one problem at a time. A health coach can spend the time to help someone listen and unravel out your personal health and lifestyle issues. It can be confusing with all the conflicting information you read in the media and the rival diets and the studies being reported. Coaching will support you by concentrating on the health, diet and mindset information that’s relevant to you as an individual. We have studied over 100 different diets on offer including some fads, some unsustainable over a long period of time and others that really do not work. Weight loss is not about eating less, calories in and calories out, all calories are not equal. For example, a cupcake that is 200 calories is not equal to a piece of fruit also 200 calories. We will provide step-by-step tools to create permanent sustainable changes for health and well-being.

We all want optimism, self-esteem, the ability to develop strong relationships, and the sense of purpose in life and destiny. Positive is a key part of effective stress management. And effective stress management is associated with many health benefits. Negative emotions narrow your mind and focus, what we call a scarcity mindset. For example, you might have the option to travel, change jobs, leverage your business — but your brain ignores all of those options because they seem irrelevant the negative mind programming argues with you not to go there are you crazy! If you tend to be negative or pessimistic, don’t despair — you can learn positive thinking skills and learn to why with the mind-body and brain-body connection, develop a physically healthy body and the mind will follow.
On average, people with the power of positive thinking average a lifespan of 10 years longer than those with negative thoughts. This is due to a culmination of all of these physical benefits that allow you to enjoy improved health and physical function longer into your golden years.
